About two weeks ago I splurged on eBay and bought some Easter-style Hello Kitty furikake packets, they just arrived today! They contain four of each Tarako, Katsuo, Egg, Salmon, Okaka and Veg – can’t wait to try them out. Isn’t the package cute? When I open it i’ll be sure to include images of the individual packs! :)

I LOVE this! It’s my new project! I’ve also been looking for it for two years, and found it at Oh! Crafty Me! It’s originally from Sanrio, and it’s an easy-to-print and make mini chocolate box featuring my beloved Kitty Chan aka Hello Kitty, Sanrio‘s flagship character.

Isn’t it darling? Don’t you just want to eat it up? Well, I’m mirroring their link in case it goes down to make sure that everyone has a copy if they want it. Thanks so much to Oh! Crafty Me for preserving this bit of Sanrio history for us!

I’m not partaking in St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, due mostly to the fact that I’m working and too far away from any sort of celebration to get involved but I wish everyone a happy day!

I’m dealing with a little data entry, which I hate lol, and alternating between wasting time watching Jurassic Park and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, lol.

Hello Kitty

I hope you enjoy this adorable Hello Kitty pic that someone created (not me!) and posted to my facebook – Happy St. Patrick’s Day, all! Be safe, be responsible and have fun!

I’m a long-time lover of San-X. I know lightening is going to strike me for saying this, but as much as I adore Kitty-chan and would never say an unkind thing about her parent company Sanrio, San-x characters tend to be the more adorable ones by far (with the exception of Hello Kitty, obviously).

Rilakkuma, Monokuro boo and Mamegoma tend to be my favorites, so I’ve decided to start shopping around for pretty San-x things to make my life a little sunnier. Here’s the first of my haul, my Rilakkuma card that just arrived!

I love McDonalds, I do. I’m a child of the 80s, so it’s nostalgic for me and the shiny never wore off. Maybe it’s because I’ve only been to a McDonalds a handful of times in my life when I was very, very young because by the time I was 7 my mother had married my awful, abusive stepfather who thought my sister and I didn’t deserve anything – anything – and that included going out to eat. Even when we were in our early teens we never went, because we were supposed to go to school or church then come straight home and go into our room. It was more or less house arrest all the time, for no real reason. I think that’s part of the reason why Laota and I delight in such childish things now, because we’ll spend the rest of our lives trying to have a childhood without really knowing how.

Then, when I was 13, we moved to Missouri and a middle-of-nowhere town that only had a Pizza Hut, which was out by the highway and closed within a year of us being there. Seventeen years later and just the act of going to McDonalds is a treat for me, I even like the awful food. I’ve been about 3 times since my step dad died in 2006, and all of those times required a kind person to give me a ride 50 miles to the nearest town with franchises.

So we’ve established that I love things that little kids love, which is why when Laota and I found out through a random Google Images search that McDonald’s had Hello Kitty toys in their happy meals, we hit the roof. There is no end to the love of Hello Kitty at my house. We love her so much that when Super Cute, the Hello Kitty balloon, debuted in the Macy’s parade a couple of years ago she instantly became the balloon we watch for the entire parade from that year on.

So, last night after shopping for the ‘rents Christmas, we used the ride we’d gotten to swing by the ever-busy McDonald’s and grabbed a couple of Happy Meals – and voila, Hello Kitty making snow angels!

And yes that IS a sticker pack on the back!

So I’ve finally got some crappy pictures of my newest bentos, both are licensed San-X and Sanrio and both are brand new, arrived in their packages – I’m all giddy. :D

First up we’ve got a yellow Rilakkuma aka Relax Bear bento box and it’s 3rd year anniversary bag which isn’t the origial blue drawstring that’s supposed to go with it, but I bought them seperately:

The next is of my strawberry-milk colored Hello Kitty onigiri bento ( more pics when I get time ), which has no bag at the moment but it did come with a little triangular pink onigiri mold – how cute is that?
